A motto to embrace, rolling with the ups and downs of student behavior and classroom life by embracing the mindset of giving students "grace and space". Each day students show up with seen and unseen backpacks that they wear. The one we don't see can still weigh on their shoulders. Students come tired (because upstairs neighbors stomp disrupting sleep), they come hungry and cranky. If I think about it, sometimes I enter my classroom tired, hungry or cranky, too! Embracing GRACE + SPACE allows me to have a plan when I'm met with unexpected behavior.
